Bottled Kirin, wooden chopsticks,
a full table
Sushi, sashimi and izakaya plates in a snug wooden room just off Liverpool's business district. Come with friends, order a platter to share, and settle in.

We are a small independent Japanese restaurant on The Strand, a few steps from Liverpool's business district. The room is snug and low lit: wooden tables, simple chairs, warm spotlights and chopsticks laid ready. Office workers, families and sushi regulars all end up round the same sort of table, usually with a bottle of Kirin somewhere on it.

We keep drinks simple: bottled Japanese beers, Kirin among them, and a sakura cocktail our guests often mention. If you find a beer you like, our small shop shelf sells Japanese beer and ingredients to take home with you.
Out the back there is a little decked terrace, tucked in among the tall city buildings, with picnic tables for fine weather, and dogs are welcome. Inside we also keep a small shelf of Japanese beer, ingredients and kitchen bits to take home. Tables can be booked ahead, and walk-ins are always made welcome.

The freshness of the fish comes up again and again: sashimi that melts in the mouth, with the tuna specials singled out most often, and tempura praised for staying properly crisp.
Guests keep describing the welcome: friendly, quick service, and staff who make you feel at home even if you arrive late and on your own.
Many call it a real taste of Japan in Liverpool, the sort of place regulars return to for years rather than visit once.
